West Tennessee Healthcare Therapy and Learning Center and YMCA team up to expand Childcare Services

West Tennessee healthcare and the YMCA of West Tennessee announced a partnership to expand childcare and continue to provide services.

For early learning and special needs, Alexander Bitterling has the details.

“Don’t worry; all the services provided here at the Therapy and Learning Center will continue to be offered. The partnership between the YMCA and West Tennessee Healthcare simply means they are being expanded and moved.”

“The therapy learning center has been in doing that work for a really long time, and they have done a great job, so this collaboration is actually going to build upon that foundation that therapy and learning center has provided.”

Senior vice president of the West Tennessee YMCA Dave Bratcher says all the services will continue.

“The collaboration will have therapy learning center employees coming into the YMCA location to provide speech therapy and physical and occupational therapy as well. And so all the employees that aren't

therapists will move over and become employees of the YMCA, assuming they chose to do that.”

Bratcher says families that are already enrolled in the therapy and learning center will have the same rate for services.

“We want to try to make sure that there's as much consistency moving from one to the other as possible and continuing to provide high-quality care that families here in Jackson have come to know through the therapy learning center.”

The only changes are moving to the YMCA early learning center on Conrad Drive and the ability to serve more families.

For childcare, especially in the rural west post-pandemic, the capacity numbers dropped dramatically, and so this is one step in expanding access while at the same time making sure that those with disabilities are not left out.”

The new facility will open on December 5th for current therapy and learning center patients. New registration will open in early 2023.
