Vehicle Shooting Kills Haywood County Teen
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. - The teenager who was shot and killed on Friday night was a student here at Haywood High School.
Here’s what police say happened:
The victim was riding in a vehicle on this section of Highway 19 when she received a deadly gunshot wound.
Police report seventeen-year-old Christine Marie Michael was leaving a basketball game in Ripley and returning to Brownsville.
She was riding with three other teenagers when suddenly someone started shooting at them.
Police report one of the teens received a graze wound, but Michael was killed.
The shots were reported to come from an older model gray Dodge Charger.
Haywood County sheriff investigators have arrested 18-year-old Kevion Davis and 16-year-old bishop Owens in connection with the murder of Christine Michael.
Kevion Davis is in custody in the Haywood County jail with no bond and held on first degree murder charges.
Owens will be held in detention by juvenile court officials for first degree murder.
He also has no bond.
While the investigation continues, the Haywood County school system reports counseling services will be available for Haywood high school students.
