UT Martin to host voter registration tailgate this weekend
This Saturday West Tennesseeans can enjoy a tailgate and get registered to vote. This weekend is a family weekend at UT Martin and the first home football game of the season.
As the Skyhawks take on the Samford bulldogs the student government association and the Tennessee secretary of state office have partnered to run a voter registration drive tailgate.
UT Martin student Mireya Carrion serves as the secretary-general for their student government and says why this event is so important,
“As college students, our voice matters, and we’re invested in our future…but we can’t exercise our right to vote unless we come out and get registered. That’s why I’m thrilled that we are having this event this weekend to give the entire Skyhawk nation the opportunity to come out and get registered to vote.”
Carrion says that registering to vote only takes a few minutes. You will need to bring a form of identification in order to be registered. Staff and volunteers will walk you through the process and answer any questions
The tailgate will begin at 3 and last until game time at 6 pm on Saturday
