University of Tennessee at Knoxville host their annual "Big Orange Give" donation day

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the UT Institute of Agriculture are hosting their biggest day of giving called Big Orange Give.

The annual fundraiser raises money to fund programs at the university and extension offices throughout the state.

The university is trying to get 8,000 gift donations this year. UT explains how your gift can benefit your county.

“In the state of Tennessee, just about everyone is a volunteer and so you wonder how I can support the University of Tennessee in my community. This is how you do that through extension. The services extension offers are always free and always open to the community so any amount that you give goes right back to that,” said Julia Ewoldt, the Marketing and Communication Specialist with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture.

The money raised will benefit a wide variety of programs ranging from family and consumer science to agriculture.

The last day to donate a gift to the university is this Friday.
