U of M Day of Giving

Jackson, TN. (WNBJ)-

Over a 24-hour span a giving event from noon on April 5 to noon on April 6 was held on the University of Memphis campuses. The campaign, “Driven by Giving,” is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to show their support for University of Memphis and its students. Michele Sides (U Of M Development Director) stated, “a lot of our students are first generation students. A lot of them have barriers to finishing their degree, and anytime a donor makes to gift to donate to the priorities of the University of Memphis they are in fact helping those students.”

The goal of this year’s event was to surpass 1,500 donors. Supporters were given the option to donate gifts to the areas they were most passionate about on the U of M campuses. Michele Sides (U Of M Development Director) informed us, “one of the goals is that we would reach 1,500 donors in a 24-hour period. As of right now we’re right at 450 donors. Another goal is that we could get a donation from every state within the United States. As of this morning we are about 10 states short of that goal.”

Michele Sides the Development Director for The University Of Memphis says the university is proud of the tiger family for the way they have supported their school during this campaign Michele Sides (U Of M Development Director) explained, “as a representative of the University Of Memphis we’re just excited that we’ve had all of our alumni, staff, and students to participate in this day.”

The inaugural Day of Giving event was held in April 2021 and raised more than $220,000 from nearly 1,000 donors. To learn more about the driven by giving campaign or to make a gift, visit memphis.edu/dayofgiving.
