Travel to Jackson Setting Records after the Pandemic
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ)-
After a year of virtually no travel, people are back on the road and vacationing this summer.
“last year this time we were in the throves of COVID, and so occupancy for our hotels was down you know the traveling wasn’t occurring. Compared to today, it’s really a much brighter day for us our community here in Jackson and West Tennessee has recovered very quickly from covid,” says Lori Nunnery of Visit Jackson, TN.
Families are excited to resume travel and Jackson hotels and businesses are excited to welcome them.
“It’s great to be able to have people in and out, be able to welcome them into their home away from home. And the more people we see, the more people we get to know it just brightens the mood in the building because we’re just happy to have people here in the building, visit with and thank for coming," Mary Rose, of the Doubletree.
This year travel to Jackson is not only back to normal, Its setting records for visitors.
“from last year there was no traffic, to this year there is so much pent-up demand. Everybody wants to get out that we are busting at the seams…. They are higher than they were in 2019, which 2019 was a record-setting year. And we were on pace in 2020 until march of course for another record-setting year. So to be able to surpass those numbers already bodes well for the future of the hospitality industry in Jackson and in West Tennessee," says Lori Nunnery of Visit Jackson, TN.
