Town of Stanton receives $357,000 Home Grant

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - The town of Stanton has received a $357,000 Home Grant from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.

The grant will be used to help lower-income families repair or construct new houses.

The mayor of Stanton describes the need for these grants in his town.

“In the city of Stanton about 40 percent of our people, our residents are below the federal poverty level, which is four times the national average. So, poverty is a serious issue for us here in Stanton,” said Mayor Allan Sterbinsky, the town of Stanton.

These housing grants have been awarded to the city of Stanton for a few years and have helped about 30 to 40 people in the town.

The Southwest Tennessee Development District will be administering the funds for the grant.

If you are interested in applying or want more info about the home grants, you can contact the town of Stanton at 731 – 458 – 2565.
