The University of Tennessee at Martin Collects Donations for Hurricane Ian Victims

JACKSON, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin is coming together as a campus community and accepting donations for hurricane Ian victims.

UT Martin’s Student Government Association is partnering with the Rotaract Club to accept campus wide donations for victims of hurricane Ian.

Items such as clothing and canned goods are being collected.

“I hope that we can just touch a lot of people’s lives and help them get back on their feet because I could understand how hard it is there in Florida after this hurricane," says Freshman Council secretary Allie Wiener.

Donations are being accepted now through Friday, the eighteenth.

The organization believes every item donated can make a big impact.

UT Martin student Cale Emery says, “Here at UT Martin we’re just not used to that, so us being able to help those people will also be able to give an insight to students here of what these families actually go through.”

The campus believes in helping their community but also helping other communities in need.

Freshman Council president Bodie McWherter shares, What UT martin does is help each other, and we really want to extend the impact to the victims of this hurricane.”

“You can make a huge impact with what little you give.”

“We hope that we can touch some people’s lives," says Wiener.
