The Rise in Gas Prices in Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. - The rising prices at gas stations like this one in Jackson are leaving just about everyone penny pinching at the pumps!
“My wife and I set aside money now. Just knowing this might take us a couple of days and then we’ll add to it. but you know we try to make one big purchase during the month to fill the tank up. but like i said it fluctuates so much you really can't keep up with it.” says Jackson resident Lawarence Haley.
And it's not just gasoline prices going up diesel fuel also cost more. The Jackson Transit Authority has seen a BIG increase in the price that it pays for fuel.
“Our diesel check from a couple months ago was like 70,000 last year it was like 50, so it has jumped significantly. " Explains Whitney Dickerson of Jackson Transit Authority.
Public transportation has also seen an increase in the amount of people who ride the city buses.
“This year were growing quite a bit now; our ridership has grown quite a bit.”
