Tennessee Sees Increase in Gas Prices and Predictions for Gas Costs in 2023

JACKSON, Tenn. - Nationally gas has gone up about eight cents per gallon, but here in Tennessee it’s more like eleven cents.

Just a week and a half ago, gas in Jackson was about 2.55 per gallon, now you can expect to see prices about 3.10 per gallon.

“There definitely has been a smaller increase, like I noticed even on the days I was gone, it was more expensive when I got back.”

Emily Ricket just got back from a trip to Ohio.

She tells thirty-nine news how she budgets when gas prices go up unexpectedly.

“I think of the month’s when the gas prices were the highest for the entire month. I take that and use that amount for my budget. Because if that’s lower then it’s great and I have a little bit of extra cash I can use for other things but if it is as high as it had been for a while, I’m kind of prepared for that.”

GasBuddy predicts the highest gas prices are expected to be seen in June of this year… averaging about 4.19 per gallon.

Ricket hopes it won’t be as bad as last year.

“I would definitely say I was just driving less intentionally when gas prices were really high. My car is pretty average on gas, so it wasn’t anything too bad, I was just making sure I was making the least number of trips possible.”
