TDOT wants to remind drivers to slow down in roadwork zones

JACKSON, Tenn. (WNBJ) - As roadwork season continues the Tennessee Department of Transportation wants to remind drivers to be aware of crews while they are working to extend parts of I-40.

The roadwork will continue throughout the summer between exit 82 and exit 87.

The community relations officer with TDOT wants to encourage drivers to be cautious while in work zones.

“We just really want to remind folks to work with us and watch for our workers, slow down. Move over if you see someone. Slow down all the things you need to be doing because you need to be driving through the work zone,” said Nichole Lawrence, the Community Relations Officer with the Tennessee Department of Transportation

TDOT says they expect to complete the roadwork by November of this year.

TDOT also says they have one more section of the interstate to widen and that’s west of exit 79 all the way through to mile marker 87.
