TAX SEASON IS COMING TO AN END. HAVE YOU FILED YET?
JACKSON.Tn.- Attention taxpayers! If you have not filed your taxes the deadline to file is less than two weeks away!
The deadline to file your taxes is April 18th! Have you filed yet? According to the IRS, the failure-to-file penalty is usually five percent of the tax owed for each month, or part of a month that your return is late, up to a maximum of 25%. So, it pays to be on time! You might even get a refund.
“When I receive my taxes, usually what I do is if I receive a large amount, I deposit it divided between my grandchildren and I deposit into my grandchildren's accounts.”
Maria Richardson also gave some suggestions on what people could possibly spend their refund on.
“I would suggest that you pay an additional mortgage, maybe pay a car now, maybe do some home improvements. We know that inflation is going up. However, the interest rates are sky high. So I would pretty much just spend my funds on something that will benefit me.”
The last day to file is April 18th! So, mark your calendars! you can contact your local tax preparation agency to get more information on how to file your taxes and avoid those late fees!
