"Slow Down, Tennessee": A campaign geared towards improving driver behavior and saving lives
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - The Tennessee Highway Safety Office launched a speeding prevention campaign called Slow Down, Tennessee this month.
Slow Down, Tennessee is the collaboration of various public safety partners with a shared mission to improve driver behavior and save lives.
Participating agencies will increase public education, awareness, and enforcement efforts to reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide.
The Jackson Police Department is wanting to encourage motorists to obey all traffic laws so everyone can make it home safe.
“Tennessee has had about a 25 percent increase in fatalities this year. We are up to 381 people killed by auto crashes since January 1st. If you see an abnormality in the roadway, slow down pay attention, and slow down," said Ken Stone, a police officer with the Jackson Police Department.
The public is encouraged to participate by using the hashtag #SlowDownTN on social media to help spread awareness.
