Residents receive new rolling carts for solid waste disposal

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Residents in Jackson have started receiving the new solid Waste Management rolling carts.

The company started delivering the rolling carts to residents on the south side of Jackson yesterday.

The city is transitioning from backdoor pick-up to curbside waste pick-up and these carts are able to hold up to 96 gallons of waste.

The mayor says this new contract with solid Waste Management is a welcomed change.

“I mean change is always difficult when we are used to things for a long time, but I think it enhances the accountability for the city of Jackson, but individual citizens as well," said Mayor Scott Conger.

With each rolling cart, there will be a packet of information detailing the new service.

The new contract will begin on August 1st.

All residents should receive their new rolling carts by the end of the month.
