Non profit organizations team up to help a local man
“Thank the lord, that’ the very first thing I want to say and thank area relief ministries because they have made a change in my life," says Darrell Spear.
Five years ago Darrell Spear's home caught on fire. He thought that the home could be repaired, but that was not the case and he had to find somewhere else to live.
“Just so happened I couldn’t get back into the house and the landlord didn’t have anything for me, so I looked online for a shelter and I happened to run into a sign that said ARM," explains Spear.
Spear took part in many programs that area relief ministries had to offer, one being the shelter they offer to homeless men.
He says they helped him every step of the way to get back on his own and now with the help of arm and other local non profits he is able to move into his own apartment.
“We’re working with area relief ministries to get somebody into their home, fully furnished with donations that have come in from the community," says Lt. Mark Cancia, commander for the Jackson, TN Salvation Army.
“I’m anxious to get the furniture and stuff that’s donated to me," Spear adds.
Spear was given a bed, tables, chairs, a couch a more to help make his new apartment feel like home.
Now he is getting ready to cook a big meal in his new kitchen.
