Nicole McRae selected as 2021 Madison County Master Gardener Scholarship recipient
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Nicole McRae has been selected as the 2021 Madison County Master Gardener Scholarship recipient.
Nicole is a graduate of South Side High School in Jackson.
The Madison County Master Gardeners are a dedicated and skilled volunteer network of UT Extension that seeks to improve the lives of our local residents through horticulture education and service.
Each year the MCMGS offer at least 1 scholarship opportunity for area graduating seniors who are pursuing higher education in the area of horticulture, agriculture, or related field.
Nicole is grateful to receive the scholarship to continue her education and to help her get one step closer to her chosen career.
“It makes me feel great! You know, agriculture really is the future and I know that there are big things that I could do, you know many discoveries that could come from agriculture. Many things that could feed more people and help with world hunger,” said Nicole McRae, the recipient of the Madison County Master Gardener Scholarship.
This year’s recipient will receive the scholarship in the amount of $2,500 dollars. During Nicole's high career, she was a part of numerous horticulture classes, held active leadership roles in South Side FFA, and maintained employment at Carter’s Nursery in Jackson.
Nicole plans to attend Jackson State Community College and complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture at UT Martin.
She hopes that one day her work in agriculture will make a difference in the lives of others.
