Madison County Sheriff John Mehr plans to run for re-election

MADISON COUNTY, TN (WNBJ) - Madison County Sheriff John Mehr has announced he will be running for re-election in 2022.

The primary election for sheriff candidates will take place next May.

The general election for sheriff candidates will be in August of 2022.

Sheriff Mehr says he is dedicated to this community and wants to continue his work as sheriff.

“I have announced that I am seeking re-election, my third term. I came to this office to make this a better department and make the county safer for our citizens. That’s the whole purpose of it,” said Sheriff John Mehr, Madison County Sheriff Office.

Sheriff Mehr went on to say he wants to improve the jail system and introduce educational programs for inmates at no cost.
