Made in Tennessee: Kandy Bank
This week’s segment features the Kandy Bank in Humboldt, Tennessee. A unique, sweet treat the entire family can enjoy.
The Kandy Bank opened back in late April, only about two weeks before the Strawberry Festival.
The bank not only provides sugar-filled delights but also a bonding experience among the families that visit the store.
“The make-up of the business so, the nostalgia. The adults see candies they have never seen since they were little boys and little girls. You know the little people come in and you see the conversations, this is what I had when I was a little kid, so the kid buys into that, and they want to get an experience with mom and dad so it’s a lot of fun,” said
Scott Keena, the co-owner of the Kandy Bank.
The store is filled with chocolates, taffy, lollipops, and much more. You can even get your favorite flavor of soft-serve ice cream.
One of the co-owners explains what motivated them to open a candy shop.
“It thinks our thing as a family, going on vacation, and visiting any new spots, we always sought out candy stores and just old school vintage anything and we ended up finding interest in that. And, who doesn’t love candy, we love sweets, we love ice cream, we love everything about it. Now, we are sharing that joy with others makes it even sweeter," said Kelli Keena, the co-owner of the Kandy Bank
Both owners love the town and the people of Humboldt.
“Just genuinely being a part of a small community. Southern hospitality is actually a thing and when coming further south, you are around good people. People who want to help, people who care and that’s one of the big things I found about Humboldt is that the people are fantastic,” said Scott.
Kelli also wants to encourage others to become entrepreneurs and pursue their dreams.
“To anybody thinking about it, all we can do is recommend it. Just do it! You have nothing to lose in terms of taking a risk on a dream and we are literally living that right now and I will never look back,” said Kelli.
The Kandy Bank is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m.
