Made in Tennessee: Jo Kema's Boutique

HUMBOLDT, TN (WNBJ) - Our Made in Tennessee this week spotlights a local boutique that has a wide variety of different items.

Jo Kema’s Boutique in Humboldt has clothing, shoes, jewelry, and much more for women, men, and children.

The store owner moved back to her hometown and opened her shop naming it after her father.

“Jo Kema’s is named after my dad. My dad’s name is Johnny and they called him Kema. So, I name it Jo Kema after him. My dad passed away about a year ago, just someone very special to me. My dad raised me so just something as far as a memory of him,” said Denice Morgan, the store owner of Jo Kema’s.

Morgan started with just selling jewelry, but always wanted to expand.

“When I started selling paparazzi jewelry, I just wanted to do a little bit more. I just started adding a little bit at a time and I had a shop down in Knoxville where I was inside of another lady’s store, where I just had a little section. Where I had my things and selling out of there. I wanted to expand and do something more and have my own,” said Morgan.

She also says she hopes following her dreams and opening the store motivates others to pursue their dreams as well.

“Me being from where I came from to now. People seeing that maybe will push people to want to do something of their own. To let other people, know hey if I can do it, you can do it too. I say anybody can do it because I have come a long way,” said Morgan.

As holiday shopping ramps up, Morgan says her shop is a great place to find the perfect gift.

Jo Kema’s is open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store is also open Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
