Local school in Jackson named library in honor of late librarian, Felicia Farr-Fuller
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Today, the faculty and staff at Jackson Careers and Technology Magnet Elementary School hosted a dedication service in honor of the legacy of their late librarian, Felicia Farr-Fuller.
JCT Magnet Elementary School named the library Felicia Farr-Fuller Library and Media Center.
Farr-Fuller is dearly missed by her family, her Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sisters, and students and faculty at the school.
“We wanted to dedicate the library to Farr-Fuller because she was such a fixture here. Whenever we said library, you automatically thought about Felicia Farr-Fuller. She meant that much to us at JCT so when she passed last year, we knew immediately we wanted to do this for her,” said Karen Fuller, a sixth-grade language arts teacher at Jackson Careers and Technology Magnet Elementary School and sorority sister.
Her daughters are grateful that the school honored their mother in this way.
“It actually makes me feel happy to know that they decided to honor my mom. She was a long-time educator for 27 and half years so she has had a lot of students. She’s touched a lot of lives, not just students, but her co-workers as well,” said JuQuita Cox, one of Felicia Farr-Fuller’s daughters.
Farr-Fuller’s other daughter reflects on the day’s events.
“Today has been surreal it’s like going back to a year ago, I was very emotional at the beginning, but I am just excited. I am still upset, sad and I miss her, but I am just really excited that they are doing something for her, and the city will remember her for all she’s done,” said Amanda Fuller, one of Felicia Farr-Fuller’s daughters.
JCT will also be displaying a portrait of Farr-Fuller in the library to pay tribute to her long legacy of education and service to her community.
