Local religious leaders recognize National Day of Prayer
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Today is National Day of Prayer.
Many churches in Jackson coming together in front of the courthouse this afternoon to pray for the country as a whole and the local community.
This event has been happening for many years in Jackson and religious leaders want to continue the tradition every year to instill hope in the community.
“This is an opportunity for Jackson to come together and pray for one another and ask the Lord to intervene and be that source of hope as he is,” said Henry Richardson, the pastor of Parkview Baptist Church.
In conjunction with this event, there was also a prayer breakfast held this morning at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
The theme of the event this year was “Lord pour out your love, life and liberty,” which is from 2 Corinthians 3:17.
