Local non-profits ask the community to donate on Giving Tuesday

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - As the season of giving continues, local nonprofits in the hub city are rallying together for Giving Tuesday 731. A day dedicated to giving to your favorite causes and outreach organizations.

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving where people can give to their favorite charity or non-profit for 24 hours.

“I believe we are blessed so that we can be a blessing to others and so whoever and however much today is a day that is designed to give back. It is important for everyone to know that their donation whatever you give today stays here in our community to provide service to community members,” said Lt. Mark Cancia, the Commanding Officer at the Salvation Army.

On a community level, about 50 non-profits like the Salvation Army and the United Way of West Tennessee are partnering together for Giving Tuesday 731.

“So, we are very excited about Giving Tuesday 731, it’s sponsored by Toyota. It’s just going to be an awesome day where people can show up and go online to 731.org, where they can go and support the agency, they feel passionate about,” said Matthew Marshall, the President & CEO at the United Way of West Tennessee.

The Regional Inter-Faith Association also known as RIFA is also participating in Giving Tuesday 731.

“RIFA is an important part of the fabric of our community that works hard every day to provide both physical and spiritual nourishment to our hungry neighbors. It is only through the support of folks in our community that we can continue to do the work we do every day,” said Lisa Tillman, the Exec. Director at RIFA.
