Local county health department offers program to diabetics



Unexplained weight loss, increased thirst and fatigue are all symptoms of diabetes. A disease that causes high blood sugar levels.


Amanda Johnson, the Public Educator with the Jackson County Madison Health department. Johnson encourages those living with pre-diabetes and diabetes to attend a 10 week program offered by the Jackson County Health Department.



During the program, attendees will learn how to read food labels, diabetes medications, the importance of nutrition and information on how to use testing monitors.


Attendees are required to wear a mask and social distance. Registration is advised and space is limited.

Johnson says, "Having classes like these not only help the community, but through education prevents the disease from spreading."
