Local Businesses Help Customers Cool Down in Record-Breaking Heat

JACKSON, Tenn. - A heat advisory has been issued for Madison County; this is how businesses downtown are dealing with the heat.

With temperatures expected to be in the high 90’s this week, people are trying to find ways to cool off and stay safe.

“That’s kind of one of the purposes of the shop in the first place, and so we definitely see it when it’s this hot out. People come in just to sit and breathe for a second, just to get water or an iced drink or sit down in air conditioning for a little while.”

Turntable Coffee Counter barista Lucas Brogdon tells us people have been coming in to cool down at the coffee shop.

The coffee shop’s location downtown draws a lot of people to come in and enjoy an iced latte or other cold drinks.

The coffee shop provides a cool environment for Jacksonians who may be out downtown.

As a person who prefers to stay cool inside himself, Brogdon shares that he prefers avoiding the heat.

“I stay inside. I cannot do the humidity, or the sun, or any of it so I like swimming and all that like if family or friends have a pool day, I’m all about that but I stay on the couch, maybe I’ll open a window and that’s it.”

Brogdon hopes everyone stays safe in the heat and welcomes you to stop by the coffee shop for a cold drink to help cool you down.
