Lifeline Blood Services hosts Fantastic Football Blood Drive in Jackson
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - A local blood services site hosted a big blood drive today in Jackson.
Lifeline Blood s=Services in Jackson held a themed blood drive today in the hub city encouraging the entire community to donate blood.
“We are having our fantastic football-themed drive today at Lifeline, getting ready for football season. Everyone loves their opportunity to their favorite teams,” said Caitlin Roach, the Marketing Manager at Lifeline Blood Services.
People who donated today were able to enter to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming NFL Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears football game.
Donors could also enter to win a brand new car as well. One donor giving blood explained why it is important for her to give blood.
“My type of blood is always needed, and I believe in helping people. If I can help, I believe in doing it. I feel like it is a blessing. It’s a blessing for them and it’s a blessing for me,” said Beverly Clark, a Jackson native.
Another donor says he had not given blood in a while but was motivated to come out today to give.
“I think with COVID, I think a lot of us got a chance to sit alone with our thoughts, which was not fun, but you started realizing the world is bigger than me. And, if I can help, I’m going to help,” said Eric Petty, a Jackson native.
A repeated donor at Lifelines says she will always do what she can to help her community.
“I try to give blood whenever I can, I just think it’s the right thing to do. It helps people and it is not hard,” said Vicki Worsham, a Jackson native.
One of the employees at Lifeline talks about the significance of her job and how blood donation saved her daughter's life.
“There are people who wouldn’t survive if I didn’t do what I do. I am a mom of one. My daughter was 28 days old when 40 milliliters of blood changed her life, so I know what it does. I know how important it is,” said Hope Prietz, the Donor Services Coordinator at Lifeline Blood Services.
You can come to donate blood Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lifeline Blood Services in Jackson.
