Library in Hardeman County Host Summer Reading Camp For Kids
MIDDLETON, Tn.-Middleton Community Library kicked off the first day of summer reading camp this afternoon. The theme for this year's camp is “All Together Now”. Emphasizing the importance of building a community of diversity, and inclusion. 39 News spoke with library director Cynthia Scott about the summer reading program.
“We focus on arts and crafts and story time. We try to have a special guest and our special guest this year is our UT AG Extension service agent leigh salmons. He's our UT Extension service agent in bolivar and he's going to be teaching the kids how plants grow, what they need to grow, sunlight, water, things like that.”
Two moms are looking forward to what the summer reading camp has to offer.
“So, today's my day off of work, and we wanted to get together with our kids. We haven't been able to hang out lately, and so it was a good little event. Our kids are pretty crafty. So, they like to build stuff.” said Mallory Mills.
“Chaz was excited about gardening,” said Hannah Langley.
The kids were definitely excited about this year's summer reading camp.
“We love reading!” they all exclaimed.
The Summer reading camp will be held every Thursday in the month of June from 11 am to 1pm. At the end of the program the children will receive an award based on how many books they read for the month of June. Middleton Community Library is located at 110 Bolton Avenue in Middleton Tennessee.
