Leadership Jackson now accepting nominations for its new class of leaders in West Tennessee
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Leadership Jackson is currently taking nominations for their new class of leaders in west Tennessee. The organization focuses on creating informed, connected, and passionate leaders who are active in the community.
Leadership Jackson was established by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce in 1979 to cultivate leadership in west Tennessee.
The committee is the third longest-running leadership development class in the state of Tennessee.
The organization teaches people the value of teamwork, problem-solving, and fostering communication skills.
These key components are what make up the curriculum for the program.
David Knack was a part of the 2020 class of Leadership Jackson and he believes the program is a great opportunity to improve upon yourself personally and professionally.
“So, my experience with being in Leadership Jackson would describe as being a life-changing one. I think there is a lot of negativity in the world and a great place to meet people who are like-minded and whose concerns are about making Jackson a better place to live,” said David Knack, the Vice Chairmen of Leadership Jackson.
Nick Hayes was inspired to get involved with the organization after hearing about how helpful and active the group is in the community.
“Leadership Jackson is a great way to learn more about the community that we all live in, but it is also a great way to learn more about yourself and along that journey and path through the 13 weeks, we are going to learn some leadership development skills,” said Nick Hayes, the Chairmen of 2021 Class of Leadership Jackson.
The organization does several outreach projects throughout the area.
“Redoing the conference room at W.R.A.P., which is an organization in the community that works with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The class has also participated in a project to raise funds and materials for homeless shelters,” said Knack.
