Kay Jewelers in Jackson hit with "smash and grab"





JACKSON, TENN (WNBJ)-


The Jackson Police Department is investigation a "smash and grab" robbery that took place at the Kay Jewelers here at the mall on Saturday evening.


Employees and witnesses say while the store was open around six PM five or six males in masks and dark closes entered the store and started smashing glass cases with hammers.


The store has not shared any video of the robbery with 39 news. We reached out to the store but was not able to get any comment.


This type of robbery is becoming more and more common across the country.


The police say they made off with about $200,000 of stolen merchandise.


Then the suspects fled the scene in an off-white Cadillac Escalade and a burgundy Sedan. The investigation is ongoing and if you have any information you are urged to contact the Jackson Police Department (731-425-8400).
