JPD responds to shots fire at Old Hickory Mall in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. (WNBJ) - The Jackson Police Department is investigating after shots were fired at the Old Hickory Mall Monday morning.


JPD officers responded to the mall around 10:45 a.m. and during the investigation determined that the shot was an accidental discharge.


Police say eight juveniles were inside the mall when one of them accidentally discharged a firearm they were carrying inside their pants.


Investigators say the juveniles then ran from the mall and drove away in a black SUV.


Officers initiated a traffic stop that turned into a brief pursuit then stopped the car in the area of Evergreen Street near Park Avenue in Jackson.


Charges of evading, weapons violations, and narcotics charges are pending at this time. No injuries were reported.
