JCM welcomes students and staff to the newly renovated campus
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - A local school in Jackson welcomes students to its newly renovated campus Monday morning.
The newly renovated Jackson Central Merry Middle and High school opened its doors for the first time this week for students and staff. Many were excited and nostalgic about the opening of the new building.
“I’m alumni, class of ’92 so just being back in these walls, just under this roof brings back a lot of memories,” said Ramonica Dorsey, the principal at JCM High School.
The principal of the high school explains the sentimental value behind opening the doors to JCM.
“We are so excited to be here. We have a lot of teachers who are alumni as well so some of them are teaching in some of the classrooms they sat in,” said Dorsey.
The principal at JCM Middle School says the transition to the new building went well.
“There are those normal first days where students didn’t remember where to go for the second period based on their orientation day. We did get everyone to their correct class and just seeing this morning the transitions have been even smoother on day two,” said Kerrianne Breeden, the principal at JCM Middle School.
Students at the school are thrilled about the renovations and being able to add to the history of JCM.
“Just knowing that a lot of people have been here in the past years, it just feels like I am living their legacy and just carrying on that, which makes it a very good experience,” said Dashanna Shields, a junior at JCM High School.
Administrators at JCM say they plan to host an open house to welcome the community and alumni back to the campus very soon.
