Jackson Community Makes a Difference in the World, Right Here from Our City

JACKSON, Tenn. - The people of Jackson are helping feed children in different countries without leaving the city.

The Feed My Starving Children food packing event starts today and is the only one here in Tennessee.

They put together somewhere in the neighborhood of 35,000 meals in one two-hour shift which is amazing since they’ve never done this before, but the most important thing is they fed 95 kids for an entire year.”

Skyline Church of Christ lead minister and local coordinator, Eric Petty, shares how groups of middle schoolers have already made an impact.

He is excited the first Feed My Starving Children event is finally here in Jackson, after being postponed for three years when the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

“This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives, literally to save lives, right here in Jackson. You can make a difference globally right here from our town.”

Petty is welcoming people who want to be a part of this experience to attend a session tomorrow at the Jackson Christian school.

Petty reports the food packages are distributed to children in different countries such as Ukraine, Turkey, and Haiti.

The goal this year is to collect 400,000 food packages.

He explains how these packages will be given to the children.

“They go from here to a warehouse, and they let us know when they ship them out and let me tell you they don’t stay in the warehouse very long, they ship them pretty quickly.”

Petty believes not only can you make a difference in a child’s life, but also have fun and connect with others through the food packing event.

If you would like to participate, you can sign up to attend a session at fmsc.org.
