Goodwill Career Solutions hosts job fair in Jackson
JACKSON, TN (WNBJ) - Goodwill Career Solutions hosted their outdoor job fair today helping people in the community find the right job opportunities.
The outdoor job fair was a partnership with the Phase 2 Adult Re-Entry Program to help formerly incarcerated people find a new career.
The executive director of the Phase 2 Adult Re-Entry Program says she is excited to be able to provide assistance to those in the community.
“We do provide employment opportunities for people who come through our program. Especially, those reentering back into society, so this was a great opportunity for us," said Shauntel Mathis, the Executive Director of Phase 2 Adult Re-Entry Training Camp.
Goodwill wants to continue hosting job fairs to create networking opportunities.
“After 2020, after COVID, we were going to need to heal. We were going to need to heal financially, emotionally, and we were going to have to find new careers. So, it’s very important for people to come out to job fairs and get connected to community and business partners and start again,” said Jamie Davolt, the Career Coach at Goodwill Career Solutions.
There were six employers at the job fair in various industries ranging from manufacturing to the medical field with more than 300 positions to fill.
Mathis wants to encourage people in the community to seek help with their job search because there are programs in place to help them.
“Let us help you get back on your feet because I know how hard it is for someone that is facing transitioning from prison to the outside world. We know how challenging that can be so give us a try and see how we can help you,” said Mathis.
If you missed out on this job fair, you are urged to reach out to Goodwill or the Phase 2 Adult Re-Entry Program and they can assist you.
Goodwill plans to host more job fairs in the future just keep a check on their website.
