Darrell Habisch of the federal emergency management agency says that there are limits to the help they can provide, “We can’t get you back to that pre-disaster state that you were in, but we can help you get a roof over your head now, have a safe secure environment for you and your family.”

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and medical expenses not covered by insurance.

This aid does not just apply to homeowner, renters can be eligible as well

Habisch says that often times the funding will arrive quickly, “You know it’s often that it's within a day or two that we can get emergency funds into your bank account.”

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621- 3362
