Early Voting has Begun
Jackson, TN. (WNBJ)-
Madison County residents are headed to the polls to vote early. Wednesday morning early voting for the Madison County Primary began. Administrator of Elections Lori Lott says there has been a huge interest in this year’s primary. Lori Lott (Administrator of Elections) stated, “a big interest in this year’s primary. We’ve voted nearly 900 in the last two days and the day is not over.”
Residents at the polls are encouraging their neighbor to perform their civic duty. It was not lost on Madison County resident Michelle James the struggles many faced for their right to vote. Michelle James (Madison County Resident) informed us, “a lot of people fought and died so that we could have a right to express opinions and be a part of the process for the people who take care of our community and our country.”
Resident James Todd felt the voting process was much easier this year. The various ways to track his voting record reassured him. James Todd (Madison County Resident) explained, “I like the new machines. You have a paper trail now. You have actually a paper ballot when you finish. If something goes wrong electronically there’s a paper ballot they can go back and catch it.”
Early voting is taking place at the Madison County Agricultural Complex Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Friday the voting polls will be closed due to Good Friday.
