Blue Suede Shoes and Red Hot Rides Car Show benefits Carl Perkins Center

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ)-

A charity car show took over the square in Jackson on Saturday. The Parkway Christian auto club hosted the Blue Suede Shoes and Red Hot rides show to benefit the Carl Perkins center for the prevention of child abuse.

“We set out to help the carl Perkins center because of its outreach to the individual child. This an opportunity for us to help an agency which can do a good bit of good for these young people that are struggling," says Gary Lentz of Parkway Christian Auto Club.

The parkway Christian auto club presented prizes to the top three cars in each class. Mayor conger selected one of the cars to receive the mayor’s choice award. There was also the best of class and the Carl Perkins center choice.

Megan lewis says that organizations having benefit events for the Carl Perkins center is the only way they are able to continue to serve the community,

that’s where all of our funding comes from, is donations. So, if it wasn’t for the support of our communities, surrounding communities and groups that decide to put these events on, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.”

The Carl Perkins Center is grateful to the parkway Christian auto club for their support and donations. Nearly 80 cars came out to compete in the show on Saturday and support the Carl Perkins Center.
