Artificial Intelligence: How to Use it for Good
JACKSON, Tenn. - Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, is the ability of machines to do things that normally need human intelligence.
AI can engage in learning, reasoning, problem solving, and even creativity.
AI can be used in careers such as real estate, health care, education, and law.
“Like anything, it’s a tool, there’s good and bad. Some of what I was sharing in the presentation is how I actually invited my students to use it because I think it’s going to be so important as a part of workflows in lots of industries.”
Marci Harris, the CEO of PopVox, a platform to connect community members to government officials, presented different ways AI can be utilized responsibly and ethically.
She teaches a public policy class, and she encourages her students to experiment with AI to help them better learn and apply what they are taught in the classroom.
“I would just recommend anyone who’s curious, and you ought to be curious, play around with it and see how it works for you.”
Harris shares that she is still learning about AI just like everybody else.
She believes that it can be useful and just like every other tool, can be beneficial depending on how you use it.
