All Union University Sporting Events Will Be Free This Season
JACKSON, Tn.-Union University is happy to announce that all of the 2023-2024 sporting events will be free admission! 39 News had a chance to speak with the athletic department about how this free season was possible.
“So, we've had a great donor from the community. First Bank has covered all admission fees for the home events for 2023 to 2024, regardless of sport. And so if you are a student here, your staff here or are part of the community, you can just come on out and see a free sporting event.” Sidney Hegg, Union Athletics
The athletic department explains that the goal of this year’s season is to continue the tradition of bringing the community together. This year's motto is “We Build Families.”
“It's really been a priority of our athletic director, Mark Campbell, and people who have come before him, Tommy Sadler and coach David Blackstock. They've been really big on family and relationships and building trust.” said Hegg.
This Friday will be a big day in athletics for Union as they prepare for big conference games.
“So, we have both our men's and women's soccer teams. They will be in Delta State. That's a big conference game for them. And then we have our volleyball team that will be hosting Mississippi College this Friday. That's a conference game for them as well.” Trey Frierson, Union Athletics.
All of this season's games will be free admission and will feature some of Jackson’s most popular food trucks. Friday’s volleyball game will begin at 6PM and the Men's and Women's soccer games will begin at 5 and 7:30 PM.
