After winning the state tournament the U17 Jackson soccer club girls are headed to regionals




JACKSON (WNBJ)-


The U17 Jackson soccer club girls won the D2 state tournament on May 29th in Murfreesboro. That means they will represent Tennessee in the regional tournament beginning tomorrow morning. Lilly Kate Varino the goalkeeper and captain of the team speaks about her and the team's mindset headed into the tournament,


“My mindset is we just have to leave it all on the field, we have to do our best, and we have to use this season and use all that work we’ve put into and just go out there and show what Jacksons made of.”



The team is excited to represent Jackson and the state of Tennessee.Their couch that they lovingly refer to as couch JJ says that this is great for the girls and the city of Jackson.


“It’s good for the club, it’s good for the community, it’s good for the city. Us coming from a small city like Jackson and winning stuff like this at a national level is really exciting," says Jarju Malang the coach of the Jackson soccer club.


The girls head out today for the regional tournament in Decatur, Alabama. They will play their first game tomorrow at 8 am.
