3% of Madison county student body has opted out of the mask mandate

JACKSON, TN (WNBJ)-

The Madison County school board has previously issued a mask mandate for all of their schools but parents are able to opt-out due to governor lee’s executive order.

Greg Hammond of the school board shares an update on how many of the nearly twelve thousand in-person students have chosen to opt-out of the mandate,

“Less than 300 of our in-person students have opted out of our district-wide mask mandate so that further qualifies and demonstrates the message around students wearing masks on our campuses so we’re encouraged by those numbers.”

That’s less than three percent of the in-person student body. The school board will provide another update on mask opt-outs at the health departments Wednesday briefing.
