Warrior Breakfast at The VFW on Airways This Saturday

The VFW will be hosting a warrior breakfast right here for our veterans at home.

This Saturday from 8am to 11am Veterans and the community will gather at the VFW POST 6496 on airways Blvd.

Breakfast will be 6 dollars and all proceeds will be used to provide care packages for deployed military woman.

Jackson’s local national guard unit was deployed in December with several of them being women.

The army and national guard issues a one size fit all garment that doesn’t normally fit women.

DAR Jackson Madison Chapter Jackie Utley shares with us their initiative.

We are trying to come up with socks, crew socks, black crew socks, white crew socks in women sizes," said Jackie Utley.

She also stressed the importance of feminine shopping and the products that will be included in the care packages.

"Pantie liners, lip balm with sunscreen, lotions just things that you don’t think about not being able to pop out to the drug store to buy for yourself, that most men don’t think about that they don’t stock for the women,” said Jackie Utley.

We asked her why she felt it was important for the Jackson community to present.

“We have men and women who have gone down range and have been deployed out of the country to protect our freedoms," said Jackie Utley.

Jackie Utley says she invites the public to attend and hopes to have great turn out.

All care packages will be sent out to the deployed woman around Mid-April.
