Made In Tennessee: Helen's Hot Chicken

From east to west Tennessee houses some of the most known restaurants in the country, but this one in the heart of Tennessee is like no other.

 

On one of the busiest and most historical street in Nashville .... stands the first Helen's hot chicken.

 

Helen's Hot Chicken started in a small shack on the side of the roads all across Nashville.

 

Co-owner Lasonya Morrow says, "we had an overwhelming support from the community and that’s when we acquired our first building within the first three months.”

 

In 2015 the owners were able to make their first commercial property purchase.

Helen's hot chicken was created by Jeremy Mallard and Lasonya Marrow two local Nashville natives coming together and establishing sizzling recipes.

 

 

Our flavors are plain, mild, hot and hella hot and the hella hot is extremely hot and we also sale fish… shrimp and lobster tails said Ms. Morrow.

 

Helen’s wanted to add a little twist by offering those flavors on their seafood as well.

 

A west Tennessee Native  was there for his 3rd time and he shared his experience.

 

With the continued support Helen's has been able expand with six locations.

 

“We’ve expanded outside of Tennessee ..we have one in Lewisville, Texas, Atlanta Georgia and we have 4 locations in the middle of the Tennessee area," said Ms.Morrow.

 

Murfreesboro,Smyrna and Madison Tennessee… are all cities you can find Helen's Hot Chicken.

 

Were just happy to be apart of Nashville hot chicken culture said co-owner Lasonya Morrow.
