Scotts Hill students are preparing for their future careers

The students here in Scotts Hill are being introduced to science, technology, engineering, art, and math all in one day. And it starts right here.

“It’s fun, it’s fun.”

“It’s trippy.”

Scotts Hill Elementary and Middle School held their first steam career fair today.

Students met with leaders in STEAM fields that are right in their community.

Eighth grader, Zach Lyles says,“I didn’t know technology was really this wide spread.”

They started the fair at a mobile innovation lab…

Where they worked with robots and a virtual reality system.

“I’ve been a big fan of robots my whole life", says eighth grader, Hayden Middleton

And the experience gave some 8th graders ideas for their future..

“I’m honestly shooting for vet, but if i can do something animal wise like animal prosthetics, i’d like that", says Middleton.

One teacher says the hands on experience offered at events like the career fair helps some students succeed in their education.

3rd grade Teacher, Dana Robins says, “Sometimes the students that maybe not excel in a normal classroom, they thrive in an environment in the steam lab or even when they get those hands on experiences in the normal classroom.”

The students and teachers hope to continue this career fair in the future. In Scotts Hill, for 39 News, I’m Imani Williams.
