Dyersburg State Community College is making history this year, thanks to the men's and women's basketball teams.
For the first time in its 50 years, DSCC basketball is being recognized nationally.
“First time we've ever been ranked and all the credit goes to the guys they’ve done a really good job so far,” says head coach David Anderson.
The men's basketball team started off the year with a new coach and without knowing how far they were going to get. Now, they are standing at 18 to 2 this season.
They are also putting Dyersburg on the map.
Being ranked 24th in the NJCAA and ranked number one in the TCCAA.
“For the town to be so small and really not be heard of, and the college its been a long time since they had a winning season so to be ranked and have a nice winning record it means a lot and cant do nothing but bless and thank god,” says player Devin Pitts.
But the men's team isn't the only one succeeding.
DSCC’s women's basketball team is tied for 3rd place in the TCCAA as of this week.
They say they owe it to the teamwork that happens on and off the court.
“We love each other, we a family,” says player Amaria Pugh.
Now, both teams say they're just taking it one game at a time.
Anyone who wants to come out and support them they will be having games here tomorrow. The women's is at 5:30 and the men's is at 7:30. They’ll be playing against Volunteer State Community College.
