Local churches come together to give back
One organization is up before the sun came up this morning and they are getting things ready for those who serve our community daily.
At 6 am this morning
A group of men with the Madison and Chester County Baptist Association along with Antioch Baptist packed fruit baskets in Medina.
And took them to…
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
One man helping pack, Jack Joyner says, “So, you know we started this as an appreciation for their work for us, that they do for us in our county.”
They have done this for the past three years to thank the officers for keeping their churches and communities safe.
“We are really appreciative of the of the sheriff’s department of them coming and patrolling our campus and everything. And you know i think those guys get left out a lot and we want to say thank you to them", says Joyner.
After the baskets were packed, they left Food Giant in Medina and traveled to the Sheriff's Office in Madison County.
Lieutenant Cleven Davis says, “This here is a great opportunity to say we appreciate you all for all that you do for us.”
Lieutenant Cleven Davis is only one of the many officers who received a basket.
He says that he is most excited about the apples.
“I like most of it is the apple. I like the apple, the apple is more best because the apple gives you energy exactly energize you. That’s what i like, it’s the apple", says Davis.
Now after this delivery over a hundred baskets filled with apples, oranges, and bananas filled the Madison County Sheriff's Office. In Jackson, for 39 News, I’m Imani Williams.
