JPD Raises Awareness for Breast Cancer
In 2016 a few women at the Jackson police department joined together to raise awareness and money for breast cancer.
Officer Natlia Cathey gives background on how it all started, “um three years ago, me and Jennifer got together and we were like let’s do something, i want something pink”.
This is the third year for blue backing pink and their annual fundraisers.
Jackson police department officer, Natalia Cahthey, says that cancer affects more than those who are diagnosed.
“I think it is very important for the community to get together and raise awareness for everyone. Cancer hits us all and i think it is great to just raise money", says Cathey.
After success with food truck Friday a couple of years ago, blue backing pink decided to bring the food trucks back.
People who worked in businesses near by came to grab lunch and support raising money for breast cancer.
One visitor, Krissi Mann says, “I wanted to come down here in order to support breast cancer awareness, go ahead and get a bite to eat, and hang out with friends and just hang out and enjoy the friday.”
Last year blue backing pink raised over 10,000 dollars and this year they hope to raise enough money to maybe fit in this big pink chair.
