New food delivery app comes to Hub City

Jackson, TN – A food delivery app that has proven to be wildly popular throughout the South has expanded its service to Jackson. Waitr, the restaurant on-demand platform, debuts this week with the official launch set for Friday, February 15. The Waitr app lets you order from your favorite Jackson restaurant … then sends a Waitr driver to deliver it to you for a flat fee of $5.

Waitr expects to grow quickly in Jackson. To meet anticipated demand, the company plans to hire 100 people in the area. Waitr will kick off its debut in Jackson with special free delivery – anytime you use the app through February 24, you can get your food delivered free by using the promo code “JACKSON” at checkout.

Jackson becomes the second Waitr city in Tennessee following a successful debut in Chattanooga last year. Overall, the service is available in more than 235 cities in 10 states.

The app’s appeal goes directly to those who don’t want to – or cannot – leave their home or office for their favorite restaurant meal. The flat fee on all orders regardless of order size or the customer’s distance from the restaurant makes Waitr stand out among its competitors.

Numerous Jackson-area restaurants have already signed with Waitr, including Jet's Pizza, US Donuts, Baskin Robbins, The Blacksmith, Krystal's, Popeyes, Airways Mini Mart, Saucy Jakes Street Food, Sips & Conversations, Woodstock Bake Shop, Baker Bros BBQ, Firehouse Subs, Jamaican & African Cuisine, Wings, Etc., Don Pancho, Chick-fil-A, Sizzler Cuisine of India, Maggie Moo's Ice Cream & Treatery, Rock'n Dough, Kanpai Sushi Bar & Fusion, Carricos Pizza, Steak Escape, Quench Juice, Tacos 4 Life, McKenzi's BBQ, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store.

“From live monitoring of deliveries yielding faster door-to-door service to the unique ability to provide full-color photography of every menu item from all participating restaurants, Waitr is seen as a leader in on-demand food ordering and delivery for customers and businesses,” said Whitney Savoie, Market Development Director for Waitr.

To celebrate its Jackson-area debut, Waitr will be hosting a launch party at Rock’n Dough Pizza & Brewery on Wednesday, February 13 at 5:00pm. Rock’n Dough Pizza & Delivery is located at 16 Jackson Walk Plaza in Jackson. Waitr is encouraging everyone to come out and be part of the city’s launch and meet the local team. Attendees at the free party can expect tasty appetizers, cold drinks and cool “swag” items to take home with them.

Waitr is exceptionally simple to use. After creating an account, you choose a restaurant, browse the fully customizable menu, select your items and tap to submit the order with a credit card. The app can also be used for carryout orders. There is no charge to consumers for placing these orders. In addition, ordering is also available via the Web at waitrapp.com.

Waitr is currently hiring in Jackson. Drivers can apply at https://waitrapp.com/become-a-driver. And any local restaurant looking to become a partner with Waitr can go to https://waitrapp.com/for-restaurants.

Launched in 2015, Waitr is an on-demand restaurant platform designed to connect local restaurants to hungry consumers. Founded in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Waitr’s mission is to develop the local food culture for communities across the United States by expanding the reach of local restaurant menus. Available on the Web, on iPhone and Android devices, Waitr is the most convenient way to discover, order and eat great food from the best local restaurants.
