Applications available for open enrollment and magnet programs
JACKSON, Tenn. – Preparation for the 2019-2020 school year has begun as online applications for open enrollment and magnet programs in the Jackson-Madison County School System are now available. Applications can be found on the JMCSS website at http://www.jmcss.org/openenrollment.

Open enrollment gives parents the option to send their students to a school outside of their zoned area, if capacity allows. All open enrollment assignments are determined by a computer-generated lottery, with the exception of Jackson Central-Merry Early College High. JCM ECH enrollment is determined by an application, interviews and essays.
The district has two magnet programs: Community Montessori School (K-8th) and Madison Academic Magnet High School (9th-12th). As with open enrollment, assignments are determined by a computer-generated lottery. Once capacity is reached, the lottery generates a wait list for each of the schools.
Brief videos highlighting the various programs offered at each of the district’s five high schools can be watched when completing the online application by clicking on the link entitled “To Learn More About This School.” Each high school will also host an open house for prospective students and their families between January 28 and 31.

Students who currently attend a magnet program or a school through open enrollment who intend to stay at their school for the 2019-2020 school year, do not need to reapply. However, all new students seeking to attend a magnet program or school through open enrollment, including siblings of current students, must apply online.
All applications for open enrollment and magnet programs must be filled out online. High school applications are due February 4. Applications for elementary and middle schools are due March 1.
