Brownsville Man Arrested in Death of Jackson Woman
Homicide Investigation Jackson police are investigating the homicide of Amanda Northern, 24, of Jackson. On Oct. 16 around 8 p.m., Officers responded to 507 Parkwood Trace Apartments in reference to a welfare concern. Police determined that Northern was deceased from an apparent homicide, and her two children, ages three and two, were missing.

Jackson police Investigators developed information that the children were with their father, Keon Stewart, 23, of Brownsville, TN. The Tennessee Bureau Investigation broadcasted an Endangered Child alert. Jackson police Investigators determined that Stewart was in Chattanooga, TN. JPD contacted the Chattanooga Police Department, and they located him at an apartment complex. With the assistance of state and federal agencies, Chattanooga SWAT took Stewart into custody around 11 a.m., Oct. 17 at 510 Central Avenue in Chattanooga. The missing children were safely recovered inside the apartment. Stewart will be booked at the Hamilton County Jail, and he will await transport back to Jackson for outstanding Violation of Probation and Failure to Comply warrants, and for questioning in the homicide.
