JEA Sends Help to Michael

The Jackson Energy Authority has deployed a 7-person crew, four trucks and the equipment needed for utility restoration should it be required in damage from Hurricane Michael.

Michael is expected to strike the Florida Panhandle Wednesday, October 10.

The JEA crew will travel first to Prattville, Alabama and then deploy as needed from Tallahassee, Florida.

When damage exceeds a local system’s capacity to restore, utility crews are contracted from other communities to assist in restoring electric service as soon as possible.

Jackson’s history with tornadoes, ice storms and flooding have created circumstances in which Jackson Energy Authority used outside crews to help rebuild Jackson’s utility structure and service. JEA, thus, willingly works with other utilities in cooperative agreements to facilitate recovery efforts.
