Milan Fire Department Receives $340,000 Grant

The Milan Fire Department was granted $340,000 through the Assistance to Firefighters federal grant.

This is a grant that the fire department has applied for and got denied in the past.

They say the money will allow them to purchase things they need, that they wouldn’t be able to get themselves, like new gear, exhaust systems, and extraction gear that will replace their 20 year old gear.

And everything they have planned to purchase, will be so they can better and more safely help the community.

The Milan Fire Department also plans to buy a washer to get carcinogens off their gear, to keep their firefighters safe as well.

They plan to have bought all the new gear with this grant in about a year.
